Digital Hive Mind is pleased to announce the opening of its new office at 1243 18th Ave., within the 850,00 square foot building complex which formerly housed the National Lock Company. In its heyday during the 1950s, National Lock employed some 4,200 people running 3 shifts a day across 28 buildings throughout Rockford. The building is now managed by National Business and Industrial Center (NBIC) and is home to a variety of tenants.

The studio-style space features high ceilings, large windows, exposed brick walls and the original factory wood flooring. The office layout includes conference and lounge areas, collaborative work stations for employees as well as a full-scale photography studio to meet clients’ growing need for content development across all platforms.

“We knew finding the right space to meet the unique needs of the business would be a challenge and decided to explore repurposing a vacant industrial property. The team at NBIC was great to work with. Together we were able to transform underutilized square footage into an office that accommodates the business’s current needs and future expansion. Our vision for the space was to create a comfortable, open forum for creativity, while at the same time maintaining the character and history of the building.”
