Digital Hive Mind’s Director of Communications, Erin Salisbury, recently completed Northwestern University’s MSC Program Crisis Communication Workshop.
The workshop brought together a diverse group of executive level communications professionals for an intensive one-day event. The morning session included presentations by Northwestern faculty on team dynamics and effective leadership strategies, and key principles and best practices for leveraging social media and digital platforms for crisis management. The afternoon session featured a crisis simulation exercise developed and facilitated by Crisis Shield, a crisis management consultancy. Teams were presented with an evolving crisis scenario and charged with developing a communications strategy and messaging, and managing press and social media as well as both internal and external stakeholders.
